Marathon Training Group 2017
The Marathon Training Group will start again on Sunday 15 January for our Spring 2017 programme. An outline schedule of runs is set out below, they may alter a little as detailed routes are finalised.

Meet from 8:30 in the Pavilion, Exeter Arena to start running by 9am prompt.

In one form or another, the Marathon Training Group has been running for several years within South West Road Runners.
In 2014 the group branched out to become an InStep initiative, with runners joining us from Exmouth, Honiton, Axe Valley Runners and various RunEngland Groups.
The nice people at InStep are funding us again, so no session fees for our Saturday runs!
Who is it for?
The group is open to all runners who are members of any of the clubs or running groups in the InStep network.
Set up for those training for a Spring Marathon, it may also be of interest to runners training for the Grizzly, or anyone who fancies a bit of distance and some company on their long runs.
We do not all run together, but we do run in pairs or groups for safety and to try to avoid getting lost (previously this has worked fine for everyone apart from the quickest runners, one or two of whom seem to lose their eyesight and/or common sense when running!)
In 2016 we had runners ranging from those aiming to finish in under 3 hours, to 1st-timers who just wanted to get round - so everyone is welcome. You can't be too slow, or too quick...
What is provided
Each Sunday, from 15 January 2017 through to 9 April, there will be a long run starting from Exeter Arena - except that on some weekends we will encourage you to take part in named races rather than a training run. We will be meeting in Exeter Harriers' Pavilion at 9am for a briefing on the route and to pair/group up into similar paced runners. The runs will be subtly marked and will have a hidden water station at around half way. Most weeks there will be a slightly shorter option available. If you provide your email address, you will also be sent route details in advance.
