Great West Run Training Group

The Great West Run training group is back.

This year, we will be running on Sunday mornings (started on 23rd July). We meet at Exeter Arena (Harriers Pavilion) at 09:00.There is free car parking available at the Arena.

We welcome anyone who’s training for the Great West Run – you don’t have to be a member of SWRR.

This group is not suitable for absolute beginners. It is particularly suitable for anyone who can run 10k but is new to half marathons. We do of course also welcome people who are more experienced and just want to run with an organised group.

Pace is not an issue, but if you’re not already up to running 10k you would be more at home in a different group – we’d be happy to recommend something more appropriate.

We will be publishing a detailed programme of our runs here over the coming weeks.

We’re all now tapering, so it’s a shorter run this week. For all those who want to try out a bit of the race route, we’re offering to take you over the first three and last three miles, through the city. This is a more complicated route than our usual tour of the country lanes, so we will be running in groups with leaders who know the way. We will have at least three different pace groups. The route is available here

If you don’t want to do this, we suggest that you do an out-and-back run to Poltimore, using last week’s route.

We will ask everyone for £1 a session to cover expenses.
